Chinatown, Japantown and Little Saigon around a major transit hub

Quick answerUpdated October 18, 2026
The Chinatown–International District is the center of Seattle's Asian American community, made up of Chinatown, Japantown and Little Saigon, and one of the city's best-connected neighborhoods: both light rail lines, Amtrak and Sounder trains, and the First Hill Streetcar stop here. Studios are few, but downtown, Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill are minutes away.

Getting tattooed in Chinatown–International District

The district includes three neighborhoods. Chinatown is centered on Hing Hay Park, Japantown (Nihonmachi) on Sixth Avenue and Main Street, and Little Saigon around 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street. The Wing Luke Museum on South King Street and the flagship Uwajimaya store are local landmarks, and the area is one of the city's best places to eat.

International District/Chinatown Station is where the 2 Line, which began crossing Lake Washington on I-90 in March 2026, joins the 1 Line, so you can ride in directly from the Eastside. The First Hill Streetcar runs along Jackson Street with stops at Fifth, Seventh and 12th avenues, and King Street Station next door serves Amtrak and Sounder trains.

Street parking is paid Monday through Saturday until 8 p.m. and free on Sundays. After a session, the neighborhood's restaurants, bakeries and the Wing Luke Museum are all good ways to spend time indoors while a new tattoo settles.
