Tattoo shops in Downtown

Transit hub at the city's core, near Pike Place and the waterfront

Quick answerUpdated October 18, 2026
Downtown Seattle is the easiest place in the city to reach a tattoo appointment without a car, with Westlake and Symphony light rail stations, the monorail and the Third Avenue bus corridor. It has fewer studios than Capitol Hill or Belltown, so it suits visitors and office workers who want a central, walkable base.

Getting tattooed in Downtown

Downtown covers the Central Business District, the Denny Triangle and the Pike Place Market area. Pike Place Market, Westlake Center and the Seattle Art Museum anchor the core, with the waterfront a few blocks west. Tattoo studios are scattered here rather than clustered. Belltown, Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill each have more, and all are a short walk or ride away.

Westlake and Symphony stations, in the downtown transit tunnel, serve both the 1 Line and the 2 Line. The monorail runs from Westlake Center to Seattle Center in about two minutes, and the South Lake Union Streetcar starts at Westlake. Street parking in the commercial core is paid Monday through Saturday until 8 p.m. and free on Sundays, and posted time limits are often shorter than a long session, so a garage is usually the realistic choice. Pay with the PayByPhone app or a pay station. SDOT says it never uses QR codes for parking payment.

Downtown is good for healing-friendly downtime after a session. Browsing the market, the shops around Westlake or a museum keeps a fresh tattoo out of the sun and away from water. On bright days, cover new work with loose clothing rather than sitting out on the waterfront.
