It's busy on weekdays and quiet at night, with a few studios, mostly along Westlake Avenue. The streetcar and RapidRide C Line connect it to downtown, and street parking is paid until 6 p.m.

Getting tattooed in South Lake Union
The neighborhood takes in the Westlake and Eastlake shorelines along Lake Union. Lake Union Park and MOHAI, the Museum of History & Industry on Terry Avenue North, anchor the waterfront end, and office towers fill the blocks between Westlake Avenue and Fairview Avenue.
The South Lake Union Streetcar runs from Westlake Hub at McGraw Square downtown to Fred Hutch, and the RapidRide C Line connects South Lake Union with downtown and West Seattle. The RapidRide J Line, an upgrade of Route 70 through Eastlake to the U District, is under construction for 2027. Street parking is paid Monday through Saturday until 6 p.m.
