Northgate is a North Seattle transit hub built around Northgate Station and, since September 30, 2026, the new Pinehurst Station at NE 130th Street. Northgate grew up around Northgate Mall, and the former mall site is being redeveloped. The Kraken Community Iceplex, the Seattle Kraken's practice facility, which also has public rinks, opened there in 2021. The area also takes in Licton Springs, Haller Lake and Pinehurst.
Northgate Station has served the area since 2021. Pinehurst Station, at NE 130th Street and Fifth Avenue NE, opened September 30, 2026, as Sound Transit's first infill station, with 1 and 2 Line trains every four to five minutes. From either station, Roosevelt is minutes away and the U District, Capitol Hill and downtown are a short ride.
For tattoos, studios along Roosevelt Way NE in Maple Leaf, Greenwood Avenue North and Lake City Way NE are a short bus or car ride away. If you skate at the iceplex, give a fresh tattoo a few days first. Sweaty gear and falls aren't kind to healing skin.
